Funding a Payment (ACH vs Wire Transfer)
Overview
When you send a payment, you need to fund it using one of the available transfer methods. The method depends on your bank account location.
When You Would Use This
You have created a payment and need to fund it, or you are choosing between ACH and wire transfer.
How It Works
ACH
- Available for US bank accounts only.
- Selected automatically when you choose a US bank account as your payment method.
- Funds are debited from your bank account and processing begins immediately.
Wire Transfer
- Available as an alternative for US accounts and as the primary method for non-US bank accounts.
- When you confirm a wire-funded payment, LiquidTrust provides wire instructions with the bank details you need to complete the transfer from your bank.
- After sending the wire from your bank, return to LiquidTrust and click I've Sent the Wire to confirm.
Steps
Funding via ACH
- During payment creation, select your US bank account as the payment method.
- Confirm the payment. Funds will be debited automatically.
Funding via Wire Transfer
- During payment creation, select wire transfer (or use a non-US bank account).
- Confirm the payment.
- Review the wire instructions provided (bank name, SWIFT/BIC, account number, etc.).
- Send the wire from your bank using the provided details.
- Return to LiquidTrust and click I've Sent the Wire to confirm.
What Happens Next
- ACH: The payment processes automatically. You will see the status update as it progresses.
- Wire: The payment status will show "Awaiting wire transfer" until the wire is received and confirmed.
Notes
- You can view wire instructions at any time from the transaction detail by clicking View Wire Instructions.
- Non-US bank accounts must use wire transfer for funding.
- Wire transfer is also available as a backup option for US accounts under "Other ways to fund."
